"Ye Feimo, what are you doing" Warmth cried out in surprise. Ye Feimo remained silent, his delicate features as if chiseled, cold and hard without any expression, so aloof that it made people dare not look at him.
Ye Feimo looked at her indifferently, still silent, making Warmth furious but unable to do anything except let the elevator keep going up to the 32nd floor before he pressed for the B1 level again. Warmth's eyes widened in shock.
This repeated five or six times, and Warmth's anger kept rising.
Cai Xiaojing called her, "Warmth, why haven't you come down yet"
"I'm locked inside the elevator by a madman."
Cai Xiaojing knew from her tone it was Ye Feimo and didn't say anything else. "Then I'll head back first. Have a good chat with Mr. Ye."
“Sure!”
Warmth hung up the phone, looked coldly at Ye Feimo, and asked him how many more rounds he planned to make.
The elevator had moved between B1 and 32nd floor over ten times already. Warmth turned her head to look at Ye Feimo, his hard features chiseled like ice, showing no emotions whatsoever.
His coldness was even more alienating.
Warmth gritted her teeth; did he want to turn the elevator until morning
"Ye Feimo, are you satisfied yet" It was almost eleven o'clock. Warmth could no longer keep silent and asked sternly, if he wanted to throw a tantrum then just do it already—this silent treatment while dragging her in an endless ride up and down the elevator was terrifying.
Ye Feimo remained unmoved, expressionless as ever, seemingly deaf to Warmth's words.
She stepped forward to press the door button but he reached out to pull her back, not letting her leave.
"This is really enough. What do you want
Ye Feimo remained silent as usual, and Wenran
"Ye Feimo!" Wenran
Warm was feeling warm yet angry, frustrated and exhausted. Anyway, there was no one else in the elevator with her but Ye Feimo, so she might as well lean against the side of the elevator and hug herself while sleeping. She would let him do whatever he wanted.
Leaned against a corner, Warm ignored Ye Feimo completely, intending to fall asleep.
The corner of Ye Feimo’s eye glanced at her; his gaze narrowed, displeased that she was not talking and her chattering voice was missing. He found it boring and looked even more displeased as a result.
Warm wanted to sleep but she was clearly so tired that she could barely keep her eyes open. However, under the circumstances, she simply couldn’t fall asleep; her consciousness was still too clear in recognizing that they were currently alone together in an elevator. Warm sighed helplessly.
Ye Feimo pressed a button and opened the elevator door without saying a word. He suddenly walked out of the elevator, causing Warm to be taken aback as she hurriedly followed him outside. They had arrived at the underground parking lot where it was very late at night and most people were already gone.
There were only four or five cars in the parking lot; they were empty.
Ye Feimo said nothing, got into his car coldly without even glancing at Warm once before driving off. Warm watched him impassively until his car disappeared from sight before getting back into the elevator and going to the first floor.
She left through the entrance on the ground level.
What was Ye Feimo’s strange behavior tonight for
She didn’t know, nor did she want to know.
Their relationship had ended.
It was late at night and quiet on the street. Warm hailed a taxi to go home.
Seemingly too tired, she felt slightly better now, but only vaguely so. She looked out of the window as the scenery disappeared quickly, her lips curling into an empty smile reflected in the mirror.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Warm were asleep.
Wen Jing was still playing a game and had yet to sleep.
Tuanm and Wen Qing greeted each other briefly before returning to their rooms. They took a comfortable hot shower, after which Cai Xiao Jing called to make sure that Tuanm had arrived home safely. Once assured, she told her to rest well over the next two days without mentioning anything else. Tuanm was grateful for Cai Xiao Jing’s thoughtfulness.
To the sound of music, she slept until noon the following day. Stretching comfortably as she woke up, she realized how rarely she had slept so well and felt so at ease. As soon as she was done with her grooming, she heard quarreling downstairs. Frowning, Tuanm recognized that it sounded like Second Uncle, Third Uncle, and their children.
Tuanm changed into another set of clothes before heading down the stairs.
Fang Liucheng had returned Wen’s company to her father, so naturally, Second Uncle and Third Uncle came around again to claim their share. They were arguing downstairs with a few daughters and sons in tow. Having experienced life’s ups and downs and its bitternesses, Tuanm’s mother cherished everything they now had even more than before and refused to give them anything.
Back when Wen Da entered prison and the house was sealed off, her mother and she were homeless and helpless, but neither Second Uncle nor Third Uncle had given them any relief or tried to help Wen Da out. Instead, they cut ties with Wen’s family as quickly as possible. Tuanm’s mother did not blame them for their indifference toward her and her mother’s situation on the streets, but she could not accept that they were also indifferent towards her older brother being imprisoned and even went so far as to take advantage of his misfortune.
Tuanm’s mother was a kind woman born into an excellent family. Back when Wen Da was still just a poor boy in college, the opposition against their marriage had been very intense, but Tuanm’s mother insisted on being with him and caused countless family upheavals as a result.
Wen Da did not disappoint either. He earned his own money through designing blueprints without relying on his wife’s family for financial support; he gave part of the earnings to his two younger brothers for their tuition fees, then took out loans with what was left over to buy their house. Back then, housing prices were still relatively affordable and buying a property was within Wen Da’s means. After graduation, they got married and worked hard together until Wen’s company had become well-established. Tuanm’s mother devoted herself entirely as the homemaker and educated her two daughters.
She felt that she had done all she could for Second Uncle and Third Uncle over the years; they asked for money or positions in the company, or wanted to start businesses of their own, and both times Wen Da helped them. Yet when he was in trouble, neither one had offered any assistance.
Everyone is human; it’s impossible to forget a heartbreak that still stings like an open wound.
The moment they saw that Wen’s company was back under the control of Tuanm’s father, Second Uncle and Third Uncle were already knocking on their door for their share. How could she possibly agree If either one had shown even a shred of concern when her husband faced difficulties, she wouldn’t be so ruthless today.
Everyone in the household was gathered in the living room; both uncles wanted to return to the company and were being stubborn about it. If that wasn’t possible, they wanted enough money from Wen Da’s side of the family for them to start their own businesses. After Fang Liucheng took over the company earlier, he’d made sure all the Wens left. Now they wanted back in.
Of course everyone would be willing; after all, as relatives, they were entitled to a position at Wen’s company without having to work for it or look up to anyone. They wouldn’t have any trouble making ends meet.
In the corner, Wen Qing was silently observing with a cold expression on her face. Tuanm often felt that if she weren’t still underage, this girl would be even more of an older sister than she herself. Her face looked frighteningly like a block of ice.
“Dad, Mom,” said Tuanm as she walked over and smiled. “Second Uncle, Third Uncle, Cousin, what brings you here”
