Wen Family.
Mr. Wen saw the notification from America and had a huge fit, as Warm secretly applied and processed everything for her studies in the US, even booking the flight ticket without informing her parents.
They only found out that she had applied to study abroad after it was finalised.
Warm knew they wouldn't agree but could only try persuading them one by one. She first convinced her mother and then her father. This matter was mentioned casually in the past, and Mr. Wen initially supported her going for studies, but now anyone could see that she wanted to run away from Ye Feimo.
If Ye Feimo’s health wasn’t an issue, it wouldn’t matter so much, but he was currently hospitalized with several upcoming surgeries, his life uncertain. How would others react if she left
Saying the Wen family could only share in good fortune and not hardship.
At this point when Warm abandoned Ye Feimo, she was still leaving for America. Although the Wen family wasn’t as powerful as the Ye Family, they were a prominent household with many idle gossipers. Such behavior from Warm would inevitably be criticized; high society’s ladylike young ladies would attack her, and how would people view their Wen family
Mr. Wen was strongly against her going abroad.
Mrs. Wen said, "Forget it, if she wants to go, let her go. Staying here will just make her sad. Changing environments might improve her mood."
Although Mr. Wen was furious, he couldn’t do anything about it. It was his daughter, and he couldn’t bear to beat or scold her despite how much she hurt them. "Warm, are you really going to abandon Feimo like this"
Warm felt choked up; yes, abandoning… Regardless of whom they were looking at, even their parents saw it as her abandoning Ye Feimo. After divorcing him after his cancer diagnosis and terminating the contract with An Ning, she left A City for America to study—everyone would see her actions as unfilial, disloyal, and shameful.
This was a scenario she had long anticipated and mentally prepared herself for.
It was the price she must pay.
"Dad, we divorced amicably, and Feimo agreed to it," Warm explained weakly. "Let’s not talk about this anymore, okay It won’t change anything anyway. I’m leaving for America tomorrow, but I’ll come back during breaks."
The school she applied for had a two-year acting program.
Wen Jing said from the side, "Dad, Mom, you guys shouldn’t be like this. Since Sister has made her decision, let’s respect it. If she wants to study in America, we’ll support her. Next year, I will also apply for a high school in America and join her."
Mr. Wen truly liked Feimo as his son-in-law; during their wedding, he worried that Feimo might hurt Warm. Even though this marriage did indeed cause significant harm to her, he felt it was irresponsible of her to leave Feimo like this without a second thought. He didn’t know what had happened between them—if it were just scandal and the child, she wouldn’t have been so resolute in divorcing.
The matter regarding the child was an accident; Feimo didn’t want things to escalate to this point either. Warm’s nature had always been gentle and kind—she remembered good but not bad and would never be as heartless.
He watched her grow up and knew her well enough to know she wasn’t a cold-hearted woman. She loved Feimo, and it was impossible for her to leave him just because he was seriously ill; there must have been something unknown to them.
But since Warm wouldn’t say anything, as elders, they couldn't press the issue further and could only feel anxious and regretful.
The early morning flight the next day—only her parents and Wen Jing knew about Warm’s departure.
She returned to her room to pack, and her father had already arranged accommodation for her near the school. He had bought an apartment for her so she could move in directly upon arrival; everything was ready.
Tan's parents were worried that Tan would not adapt well by herself at first, so they flew over on the same flight.
Warm didn't have much luggage—only necessary documents, clothing, and books. On her bedside table were a photo of her with Ye Feimo and two jewelry boxes: one containing a four-leaf clover mobile phone charm and another box holding a butterfly necklace and pin; all were gifts from Feimo and held sentimental value.
Warm pulled out a ring box from the bottom drawer, inside was her wedding ring.
The corners of Warm's lips twitched as pain drilled through her heart.
Marrying ring...
Wedding band...
She didn't know if Feimo had already thrown it away or not.
Warm owned a lot of jewelry, some she bought herself, some from parents and sponsors, and some from Feimo. Her favorites were the mobile phone charm, the butterfly necklace, the pin, and her wedding ring—all related to Ye Feimo in one way or another.
Warm stared at the ring for a while before sighing softly and placed everything into her luggage.
The photo frame was also put inside. She had printed out all their photos together and kept them at Mingcheng Apartment; she didn't have many here, so taking one with her would be good for reminiscing. After packing up, it was already midnight.
Feimo didn’t know how he was doing...
After tonight, their distance would lengthen. She hoped that he could stay safe and wished to meet him again in the next life if not this one.
The phone rang; looking at the caller's ID, it was Tang Mandong's number. Warm picked up, and Tang said, "Warm, do you want to come have a drink I'm with my sister-in-law and Xiao Jing over at Blueberry Night, should we wait for you"
Checking the time, her flight was early morning the next day; she would be unable to return before three or four in the morning if she went out now. However, she knew that she wouldn't sleep tonight anyway, so it didn’t matter whether she stayed at home or went out.
"Okay!"
Warm had never taken her driving test; however, she could drive well enough to get by without a license. It was late and she couldn’t wake the driver up, nor did she want to bother Tan’s father. So, she decided not to care and drove out in his car. The traffic police wouldn't be too strict at this hour of night, so no one would know if she had a license or not.
She learned how to drive when she was still a teenager because of an almost-fatal accident; however, as there were few people around where she lived, she didn’t have the heart to take her test. After driving to and from the market several times, she had become quite familiar with the roads.
When she arrived at Blueberry Night a little after midnight, Tang Mandong was dancing on stage while Cai Xiao Jing sang. Su Ran wasn't there today; it was only a group of women, with bottles of beer and cocktails on the table along with several plates of snacks and desserts.
Chen Xieru beckoned Warm over; some people came to ask for signatures from her and also asked for one from Warm. The bar's atmosphere was still lively at midnight. Warm waved a waiter over, ordering herself a pinacolada.
"How did you have time to come out and play" Warm smiled as she asked.
Chen Xieru said, "Mandong said that recently she's been feeling bored and wanted to come dance and drink; Shuwen has had a busy schedule these past few days so he went to bed early. Since I was free, I accompanied her here. I just happened upon Xiao Jing having drinks alone over at Blueberry Night, so she called you over.
She thought that Warm needed to relax the most.
Warm smiled and looked at Tsai Xiaoqing on stage, singing a love ballad, feeling the nth time of regret: "Sister Xiaoqing really missed her chance by not becoming a singer. She has such a good voice and talent..."
The way she sang made her sound even better than the original version; her voice carried a hint of desolation and deep emotion, turning smoothly and gracefully in an ethereal manner that was very touching. At times it felt like an electric current coursed through one's body as resonance hit strongly.
"I do agree," Chen Xueru said with a gentle smile. There were several empty beer cups on the table; Warm asked, "Did Sister Xiaoqing drink all of them"
“Of course not, she drank almost an entire bottle of rum and had seven or eight bottles of beer. I didn't even know her alcohol tolerance was so high,” Chen Xueru said with a laugh. The alcohol bottles were taken away; otherwise, it would have been more exaggerated.
As the ace agent, Tsai Xiaoqing often went out for dinners and drank plenty as a result. With over nine years of training, her alcohol tolerance was naturally very high. Even after drinking so much, she wasn't visibly drunk at all.
Warm frowned; Tsai Xiaoqing was an extremely rational person. Why did she drink this much
Drowning sorrows in alcohol didn’t seem to fit her style.
Tsai Xiaoqing sang one love ballad and then came down from the stage. Seeing Warm, she had come down, followed by Tang Mandong who joined them in drinking. Among these people, Warm drank the least since she was the worst at holding alcohol.
She feared suffering a hangover tomorrow on the plane ride; therefore, she didn’t drink much.
"Sister Xiaoqing, why did you drink so much" Warm asked, even though they hadn't collaborated yet, everyone was still friends.
“I’m annoyed. Lin Ning proposed to me, do you think I should marry him” Tsai Xiaoqing asked.
The others gasped in surprise and delight; Tang Mandong immediately said decisively: "Of course! Big Brother Lin is such a great guy, and he treats you so well; marrying him would be wonderful. You will definitely find happiness."
"Ptooey! When he was being flirtatious with other women, you weren’t there to see it,"
Tang Mandong rebutted: "My brother used to be quite the charmer too; now, however, my sister-in-law has him under her control. You can rest assured that with your skills, Big Brother Lin won't fly out of your palm."
Warm smiled in agreement; what Tang Mandong said made sense. She had always felt that Tsai Xiaoqing and Lin Ning were a very compatible pair, meant for each other. They shared similar interests and hobbies, worked in the same industry, and there was never a lack of topics to discuss. It would definitely be fun being together.
However, it seemed that Tsai Xiaoqing strongly rejected Lin Ning; she didn’t dislike him.
Thinking about herself and Ye Nimo, they weren't against each other either but still ended up breaking up.
Tsai Xiaoqing pointed at Warm and said: "She and Mr. Ye have given me a shadow. Talking about marriage is still for the future; I don’t know if I want to marry. To be honest, Lin Ning is an excellent lover, but he may not necessarily make a good husband. Now I can afford to lose, but if we discover that we’re incompatible after getting married, then it’s something I cannot afford."
Warm was stunned: "You're overthinking things; my issue with Nimo isn’t what you think..."
"Then how is it" the three asked in unison. Warm felt awkward and smiled helplessly: "I don't want to talk about it, so please don’t push me. Sometimes separating isn't because one doesn’t love anymore; but rather..."
It was simply due to loving each other too much.
Therefore, they needed to separate.
A few people pressed her to give a reason, but Wenran remained silent and did not speak. The others were helpless and continued drinking. In the middle of their gathering, Wenran also got up on stage to sing a song called "Break Up."
The song was sung with great melancholy, nearly bringing Chen Xueru to tears. She clearly didn’t want them to break up; why then, did they have to part ways
They drank until very late at night.
Cai Xiaojing had drunk herself into a stupor and couldn't drive home on her own. Tang Mandong offered to take her back, while Chen Xueru rode with him. Wenran drove herself home; everyone was aware that she didn’t have a driver's license and they all reminded her to be careful.
Wenran nodded frequently; this wasn't the first time she had driven without a license.
Since she hadn’t drunk much, there were no issues with driving. At 4 AM, almost nobody was on the streets and traffic was smooth. She arrived home unobstructed. Her parents and Wen Jing were already fast asleep. Exhausted to her core, she didn't even change clothes before collapsing into bed.
She had only just fallen into a half-dream when someone woke her up; they needed to go to the airport.
Sporting dark circles under her eyes, she went to take a shower and get ready. She packed her luggage and got in the car with everyone else on their way to the airport.
Wenran's mother asked, "Nan Nan, did you tell Feimo about this"
"No."
This answer was within her mother’s expectations. She said helplessly, "At least inform Auntie Ye... and also have someone inform Feimo."
“Yes, I will.” Wenran muttered to herself and sent a text message to Cheng Anya but didn’t make a phone call.
When Cheng Anya received the text message, Ye Feimo was in the operating room. This was his second surgery; Baitian would be performing it. Su Man said that this surgery wasn't risky. When she got the message, her emotions were quite complex.
"What's going on"
“It’s Wenran. She says she will go to America for studies and is taking an early morning flight today.” Cheng Anya said softly.
The Third Young Master Ye responded indifferently, "That girl may seem kind and innocent, but her heart is cold; it's even worse than you were in your younger days."
"It’s not really her fault," Cheng Anya said. “I hope Feimo can accept the news.”
The Third Young Master Ye remained silent. The surgery lasted three hours and was very successful.
After the effects of the anesthetic wore off, Ye Feimo woke up; Cheng Anya took meticulous care of him. She had originally planned to tell him about Wenran going to America after some days but ended up mentioning it while she was talking with Ye Kelan at the door and he overheard.
"Feimo..." Cheng Anya wanted to say something, but seeing his blank expression, even her quick-witted tongue didn’t know what to say.
Ye Feimo’s face remained expressionless, his eyes like ice; his tone was cold and indifferent. "Her matters are unrelated to me...
No relation…e Wei’s demands were straightforward and reasonable, but so too was his claim on what Ye Wei demanded.Wushuang smiled; Bai Ye said, "I was just joking. We’re a family—no need for such formalities. I’m...
