Moxiao Bai woke up in shock again, it seemed he had a nightmare. In his dream, he was struggling with Moya using brute force and desperately trying to escape from the sleeping bag, unwilling to stay inside this small space which made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
At first, Moya didn't know why he was fighting so hard. Wuden said, "Boss, take him out and don't provoke him."
Moya hurriedly carried him outside, not wanting to upset Moxiao Bai further.
After being brought outside, Moxiao Bai seemed a bit better but the pain in his body made him uncomfortable. He usually slept through everything, so he didn't feel any pain while unconscious, but once awake, it was painfully clear. His hand instinctively reached for his thigh to cover the wound, only for Wuden's quick reflexes and gentle persuasion to stop him. Due to severe pain, Moxiao Bai attempted to struggle again, urging Moya to give him a sedative. But Wuden refused, saying, "Sedatives won't be effective in this amount; it would be better without them. Let Bai endure the pain for now as he will soon get used to it. What you should worry about is his leg getting infected and possibly requiring amputation if not treated properly."
Moya was deeply troubled, after a while of struggling, Moxiao Bai's body broke out in cold sweat. Suddenly, in a hazy state, he shouted, "Brother, save me..."
His words came from an unclear mind, causing intense pain in Moya’s heart. Tremblingly, he held Moxiao Bai’s face and kissed him repeatedly, unable to say anything but pressing his own face against Moxiao Bai's.
The scene was very touching; Wuden couldn't bear it either, sighing that they looked pitiful, fortunately, she didn't experience the same agony as them before.
Moya tightly held him and tried to get closer to the fire. Moxiao Bai had never let him help throughout this time, always urging him to leave and not touch him. His heart was telling him otherwise but he appeared tough on the outside, refusing any assistance.
When Moxiao Bai calmed down, Moya patted his back comfortingly, when Wuden suddenly jumped in fright, quickly pulling out her handgun aimed at a certain spot in the forest. Fengyun immediately went into alert mode; this darkened forest was frighteningly silent and had an eerie green glow somewhere.
Yun put on night vision goggles and murmured, "Oh my God..."
This was a pack of wolves, the most ferocious ones in the forest. The wild wolves standing upright were nearly a meter tall, their eyes glowing green as they stared at them. This group of wolves seemed to have starved for quite some time and were waiting for an opportunity to attack; there were around ten of them.
Wolves are pack animals, when in action, it would be several or even dozens of them together, rarely acting alone. Since they were deep within the forest where few people ventured, their presence had likely startled this wild wolf pack awake. Feng said, "Wuden, what should we do"
"Wait!" Wuden replied; she had experience dealing with wolves in this forest before and knew if the wolves attacked them, they would have to shoot back, but doing so might attract more wild wolves.
This is a terrifying forest, and one must be cautious at all times.
Moyao didn't pay any attention to the pack of wolves; he just guarded Little White. Wushuang could handle the wolves, and those wolves just watched them without moving, as if they were hunters quietly observing their prey.
Yun was creeped out; it wasn't comfortable for anyone to be stared at by a group of predators. Everyone had the feeling that they might be eaten next, except for Little White. No one could sleep.
An hour passed, and the wolves didn't make any movements. Suddenly, Wushuang became alert because two of the wolves turned around as if to leave. The other wolves remained still. Wushuang quickly took out her throwing weapon gun and fired two iron darts that pierced their throats. The wolves fell dead with a loud thud. Wushuang swiftly said, "No shooting; use throwing weapons."
Before she finished speaking, the wolf pack pounced over rapidly. Wushuang grabbed one of the wolves by its claws and threw it into a tree trunk, killing it instantly. Another wolf tried to attack her again, but she fired at it with her weapon gun, shooting it dead.
The wolves' attacks were swift and fierce, sharp and ferocious beyond imagination.
Feng was the quickest to react; he used a silenced pistol, each shot hitting the head of the wolf accurately. Soon, all the wolves were killed.
After dealing with the situation, they dragged the dead bodies of the wolves aside. Yun had been scratched by one of the wolves' claws but fortunately, it was just a minor skin injury. She asked Wushuang, "What happened"
"Wolves are pack animals; there must be hundreds here. Those two wolves clearly intended to inform others and bring them over for an attack on us. We can't allow that to happen or else we'll suffer," said Wushuang.
Yun nodded, feeling rather apprehensive about it.
If those hundreds of large and ferocious wolves were to charge over, they would definitely tear them apart. Wushuang sat down irritably and turned on her computer. "This isn't a place where there should be wolf packs; how could so many attack us"
Moyao said, "Anything can happen in the jungle; we must remain vigilant."
No Shields went without setting up guard, or else a few of them would truly not have to sleep. After setting the guard, Feng Yun went to sleep in their sleeping bags; Mo Xiaobai fell asleep, and Mo Yao carried him inside to sleep as well. It was cold outside, so No Shields alone tied ropes between two trees for safety, slept outdoors herself, and kept watch.
The dawn came later than they had anticipated; this jungle night was hard to endure. Wolves howled in the distance while some dangerous animals were also lurking nearby. Getting a good sleep was very difficult. Once it became daybreak, they ate breakfast quickly and set off without glancing back at those dead wolves once again. The forest light during daytime was quite decent, warming up the entire woods. No Shields chose an extremely safe route that avoided places where venomous snakes and scorpions were most likely to be found; for half a morning, there hadn’t been any dangerous encounters. At noon, they arrived beside a small river. Rivers in the forest were plentiful—walking a while would lead them to another one. The water was still clean. No Shields checked the terrain and concluded that they needed another short rest. Happily enough, there was signal…
...and it was quite strong. They managed to get in touch with Mo Chen.
In just this night’s time, a few incidents involving federal agents and anti-terrorists intercepting transactions by the Mafia had indeed occurred; fortunately, thanks to Mo Yao’s warning, they had already evacuated before any damage could be done.
The internal system was also under attack, but with a group of technicians there, no major blunders happened. Hearing this, Mo Yao felt relieved and reminded Mo Chen once again that he must be even more cautious for this period because tougher trials were yet to come; the Mafia absolutely could not allow for any similar terrible situation as before when the First Terrorist Organization had appeared—otherwise too much time would have been spent on rebuilding it. He did not want to take such a risk.
After discussing their work, Mo Yao and Mo Chen made a video call. Mo Yao asked him, “What is that thing”
"YWQ-221. It’s just a code name for now because the person who developed it hasn’t named it yet. I had hoped that the first buyer would come up with a name; however, they were intercepted by the anti-terrorism unit in Berlin halfway through." Mo Chen said seriously, "Strictly speaking, this is an illicit drug laced with viruses, controlling people’s neural systems and creating severe hallucinations. It can control thoughts as well, with purity levels four to five times higher than ice drugs on the market. As far as I know, this drug hasn’t entered circulation yet; it’s only being used internally by our organization, and there is only one batch of it. How long has Xiaobai been injected"
"Over fifteen doses," Mo Yao said. Mo Chen continued, "I asked Su Man for information and he told me that if someone receives more than ten injections, they’re basically done for; you should not attempt to detox them when symptoms appear—just inject them to calm them down instead. We’ll head straight from Mexico to Riyadh afterward. The plane is prepared—the meeting will be two days later in the pine forest northeast of where we are."
No Shields asked, "What does ‘done for’ mean"
"Su Man speaks like that; I don’t know what he means exactly," Mo Chen said. "Uncle Baiye looks terrible—when his expression is bad, it truly means serious matters are at hand."
Baiye was usually smiling; besides the time when fighting against the First Terrorist Organization and the Mafia, he had seldom been so anxious or panicked over anything else… Of course, Su Man naturally didn’t count.
Mo Yao looked down at Mo Xiaobai, feeling heartache.
Worse than detox, what is Little White enduring
Wolfblade knew that Muyeiao was solely focused on Little White and couldn't be bothered with anything else. She could only ask, "Have the American forces withdrawn yet"
"No, there's something strange though. Our people lured them to the Mexican border but then left in their plane. Logically, since they escaped, they should have returned by now. But instead, they're lingering around as if waiting for something. I haven't received any updates on their movements yet; therefore, we dare not send our planes out into the pine forest in case it leads to them tracking us down and exposing your location... As for exposure, yesterday when the anti-terrorists hacked into our computers, their display showed your location. I think Thomas should know where you are by now, but they haven't turned back yet, which means they probably didn’t discover you. To be on the safe side though, you'll have to stay in the forest for longer until the American forces leave. Along the way, there will definitely be scouts; hence, the safest place is within the forest."
Muyeiao basically agreed with Muchen's analysis. Wolfblade said, "Alright then, no problems here. We'll just wait for two days. By the way, how long would it take to get from our location to the edge of the pine forest"
"By normal walking pace, it should be around eighteen hours," Muchen replied.
Wolfblade nodded and rubbed her forehead as she said, "I think this forest is quite different now. Last night we encountered a wolf attack; I need a detailed map of the area and weather forecast for the next four days."
Muchen agreed, "Four days"
"I have to consider the possibility that we might have to stay longer in this cursed forest. Do you think it will be easy to shake off the Americans" Wolfblade asked. Muchen nodded and instructed his subordinates to proceed with the task while she lay by the riverbank, basking in the warmth of the sun as she waited for a response.
Muchen then turned to Muyeiao, "I want to talk to him."
Without any expression on his face, Muyeiao replied, "I also wanted to speak with him."
Muchen fell silent. Little White was sleeping soundly without making a single noise, which wasn't normal sleep. Even if he were unconscious, the jolts should have woken him up by now. But there was no sign of awakening from Little White; moreover, his limbs seemed soft and boneless, unable to stand or even move his hands with strength—except when... except when he was experiencing a drug withdrawal episode, in which case he would be as limp as a noodle otherwise.em to the time when Ye Wei had given birth to his son, thoroughly proving the theory that sons were like weeds while daughters were treasures. One evening, a few people gathered on the beach with the k...
