After the barbecue, Ye Wei and others were free to do as they pleased. Wushuang felt a bit tired, so Rong Yan and Chu Li pushed Kaka back to rest, and Wushuang also wanted to take some rest. In the evening, she didn’t join family activities together; instead, everyone else was at the beach, where she went for a walk and had conversations.

Su Man and Bai Ye walked alone on the beach. The moon was crescent-shaped, with many twinkling stars in the sky. Distantly, the sea looked like ink had been spilled over it, dark and boundless, waves continuously crashing onto the shore, bringing a unique excitement and surge. Su Man hadn’t spoken all night long; instead, she kept silent. Su’s words were always scarce even when they were together—she mostly listened rather than spoke. If not necessary, she could remain completely silent, truly embodying the virtue of silence being golden.

However, Bai Ye perceptively noticed that Su Man wasn’t in a good mood tonight.

He had been accompanying her on Thousand Cloud Island for more than half a year without returning to Riyadh. Su Man was someone who cherished places and although she often traveled, she would always return to Riyadh every one or two months otherwise it would make her uncomfortable. Because of Wushuang and Kaka, they stayed in Rome and on Thousand Cloud Island for some time. Bai Ye thought that perhaps Su Man missed her hometown. The scorching weather in Riyadh didn’t match Su’s light and airy temperament at all; he couldn’t understand why she liked Riyadh so much.

Bai Ye tightly held Su Man's hand as they walked along the beach. It was rare to see two men holding hands on a walk, especially after decades of partnership—such intimate behavior was usually seen in teenagers and young adults. However, Bai Ye enjoyed walking with Su Man’s hand after meals, whether it be on Thousand Cloud Island or in Riyadh.

Handholding is something for a lifetime, particularly the hand of one's beloved, always bringing him both palpitations and peace.

Ye Wei often teased him about his infatuation with Su Man—how he managed to keep her by his side for decades. He would just smile without replying; in truth, Su Man was very stubborn once she gave someone her heart, it meant a lifetime.

This was his luck to have Su Man who wanted to accompany him throughout life, though they had no children, he felt extremely content and happy nonetheless.

So this pair of hands, no matter when and where, he always wanted to hold.

Soman had never refused.

This usually reserved person, Su Mei Ren, would often tolerate Bai Ye's various seemingly excessive actions that were overly mushy for him, and also did not object to his occasional displays of intimacy in public. Although Bai Ye was from Riyadh, he did not adhere to any religious beliefs, making him somewhat unique with fewer reservations.

The moonlight was hazy, the sea breeze gentle, coconut trees swayed gracefully.

The moonlight stretched their shadows very long, like those of slender manga characters, looking so harmonious and beautiful. Bai Ye tenderly gazed at Soman's profile; time had been kind to the Su family, as Soman looked no older than forty today, well-preserved just like his sisters Su Ruhua and Su Rugu back in their prime days. Time seemed to have paused on them, slowly settling down, highlighting their elegance through the years.

Soman is like wine; the longer it ages, the more fragrant and mellow it becomes.

"Are you missing home" Bai Ye asked Soman.

Soman pondered for a moment, slightly shaking his head. Bai Ye raised an eyebrow, "Why are you in such a mood"

Soman's steps paused as he turned to look at Bai Ye, hesitating for quite some time without speaking. Bai Ye chuckled softly and said, "Soman, is there anything else you can't tell me I'm not God, so I won't always guess what you're thinking. If you have any troubles, share them with me; perhaps what's in your mind differs from what's in mine."

They are not people who繞彎子。

Su Man nodded and stopped. He wanted to free himself from Bai Ye's grip, but Bai Ye held him tightly. Su Man sighed and didn't force it further. Looking at Bai Ye seriously, he asked, "Without a child, do you really regret it"

He knew that Bai Ye loved children very much. Out of consideration for him, Bai Ye had never wanted to have kids. Actually, hiring a surrogate mother would make it easy for Bai Ye to have a child; as a doctor, this was not difficult. But out of consideration for him, Bai Ye hadn't suggested having a child and only hinted at it subtly because he knew Su Man didn't like the idea.

Especially that year when Ye Wei gave birth to Mo Xiaobai, they came together to Rome to celebrate. Holding Mo Xiaobai affectionately in his arms, Bai Ye laughed so tenderly as if Mo Xiaobai were his child, from a distance Su Man watched him in the garden.

Su Man knew that Bai Ye loved children and really hoped to have his own.

This hope was no less than wanting to be with him for life.

But because he felt uncomfortable about it, Bai Ye gave up on having a child.

Giving up the right to become a father.

Su Man had always ignored this and convinced himself that it was the best choice. They hadn't had children for decades and still managed well; in the future he would be there with Bai Ye, so Bai Ye wouldn't feel lonely. A child was just a guest in the family—whether they were present or not made no difference.

Now, looking at him enthusiastically choosing a surrogate mother for Xiaobai and Mo Yao, Su Man couldn't help but wonder if Bai Ye had also searched online in the past, hoping to find a mother for his ideal child.

Was he being too selfish by depriving Bai Ye of the right to be a father

He was such a strong and gentle man; surely he would have been an excellent father.

"You've been troubled by this all night" Bai Ye couldn't help but raise his eyebrows.

Su Man looked at Bai Ye earnestly, "This is a very serious matter. I care deeply about it. In the past, I didn't think it mattered much, but now that I do, am I the reason you were disappointed in me"

"No!" Bai Ye answered firmly, "If a woman came to me with a child and told me this was your child from her, I might do something terrible. Putting myself in your shoes, I understand where you're coming from. Although not having children is a small regret, as I've said before, you are the most important thing to me. A child can't be compared to you."

"You could have both," Su Man said softly, tilting his head slightly. The sea breeze lifted his long hair, giving him an ethereal melancholy look. He whispered, "If a man can have both the world and beauty, he wouldn't give up either. If you told me that having a child would make you happy, I'd agree to it, ensuring you'd never lose anything."

"Fool!" Bai Ye smiled slightly, gripping Su Man's hand tightly. His palm was dry but warm, and holding onto it made him feel secure. "Who says there wouldn't be regrets You would have lingering doubts in your heart; you'd be unhappy. If a child becomes a burden for you, what use is having one to me"

ps: My character Wushuang's baby will appear today, and I'm struggling with the name. I've opened a thread in the comments section asking for suggestions. Sisters, if you have any good ideas for names, please share them there. If I find a great one, I'll use it. I'm notoriously bad at naming characters, so I hope that Wushuang's little one gets a good name and doesn't end up with something terrible because of me, right Right Hahaha...yone else in their family is monogamous, except for Xiaobai.
